Protein Pop Tarts & Pies!

These pop tarts are over double the size of original pop tarts, lower fat, lower carbs and higher protein making them a great snack to hit your daily protein intake. The crust is also a great pie crust which can be used to make sweet or savoury pies with minor adjustments.

Ingredients

Crust

40g Plain flour

10g Whey protein or choice

20g Sweet or unsweetened apply sauce

Sweetener to taste

Filling/Topping

200g Quark or cream cheese

Flavouring or choice (e.g Flavdrops, hot chocolate, angel delight, Jell-o pudding, etc.)

 

How to make

  1. Mix together the apple sauce, flour and whey until you get a dough.

  2. Flour your worktop or use grease proof paper and split the dough in half.

  3. Roll out both halves into rectangles the size you want.

  4. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celcius.

  5. Mix together all the filling ingredients and spoon 3/4 of mixture into one of the dough rectangles.

  6. Place the other half onto the top and use a fork around the edges to seal together.

  7. Place in oven for 15-20 minutes until dough is golden.

  8. Top the pop tart with the rest of the filling.
